吉奥吉·佐丹尼亚毕业于第比利斯音乐学院(格鲁吉亚)、圣彼得堡音乐学院(俄罗斯)、田纳西大学(美国),是新千禧国际指挥大赛冠军得主。他曾担任艺术总监或首席指挥的艺术机构包括:格鲁吉亚国家歌剧与芭蕾舞剧院、格鲁吉亚国家室内乐团、博尔若米音乐节、第比利斯复活节音乐节。
作为客席指挥家,佐丹尼亚活跃于世界各地,合作乐团包括:俄罗斯联邦管弦乐团(首席客席)、格鲁吉亚国家交响乐团、第比利斯交响乐团、哈尔科夫爱乐乐团及国家歌剧院(首席客席)、圣路易斯-奥比斯保交响乐团、丹佛室内乐团(首席客席)、亚利桑那爱乐乐团、开普敦爱乐乐团、大邱交响乐团、罗马尼亚广播乐团。同时,他是德国国际钢琴大赛评委、米克尔拉泽音乐学院首席音乐顾问兼管弦乐教研总监。
为表彰他对交响乐和音乐教育事业的卓越贡献,佐丹尼亚被授予格鲁吉亚国家最高荣誉勋章。
佐丹尼亚来自音乐世家,父亲是传奇指挥大师Vakhtang Jordania;女儿Salome Jordania是崭露头角的古典音乐新星,毕业于美国茱莉亚音乐学院,目前在耶鲁大学音乐学院攻读钢琴演奏硕士学位。
After finishing his studies in Tbilisi Conservatory and the Leningrad (recently Saint Petersburg) Conservatory in 1989, Jordania continued his education in the United States. Under the tutelage of his father, renowned conductor Vakhtang Jordania, he completed his Master’s Degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He worked as an assistant conductor while at the University, conducting numerous symphony concerts. On July 4, 1990, he made his professional American debut with the Chattanooga Symphony, entertaining a crowd of 30 thousand people.
Upon his return to Georgia, Jordania started to work as a conductor of the Tbilisi State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. In 1991, after tours of Georgia and later in the Ukraine, he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Kharkov State Academic Theatre as well as Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1995, his debut with the Russian Federal Orchestra in Moscow was hailed as a great success. This was the beginning of his international recognition.
His guest engagements have included appearances with orchestras in Denver, Colorado, Phoenix, Arizona, with the Cape Town Philharmonic in South Africa, Daegu City symphony in South Korea Romanian Radio Orchestra in Bucharest to name a few.
During the period of 1999-2003 Giorgi Jordania was a Chief Conductor of the Georgian State Chamber Orchestra. In April of 2000, the GSCO, conducted by Giorgi Jordania, took part in a tour “Pilgrimage from Europe to Jerusalem”, visiting and playing concerts in Europe’s major cities with the final concert on Good Friday at the Dormicion Church in Jerusalem. After that Giorgi Jordania together with the GSCO and the well known violinist, Liana Issakadze began touring all throughout Europe, appearing in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. They also performed charitable concerts touring throughout their native Georgia, and for the Georgian community in Paris and Leville, France. In 2000 together with Liana Issakadze he founded Borjomi Chamber Music Festival in Georgia, where he was a Chief Conductor until 2003.
In 2001, Jordania became a Laureate of the First Prize and the winner of the Grand-Prix of the “New Millennium first International Competition of Conductors” held in Kharkov, Ukraine. The same year he became a Laureate of the prestigious “State Prize of Georgia”.
Starting from 2002 he is regularly invited to the various competitions. 2005 in Ukraine and 2006 in USA he served as a jury member of Vakhtang Jordania International Conducting Competition.
In 2008 Jordania founded another festival – Tbilisi Easter Art festival and became its Artistic Director and General Manager.
In 2012-2014, Giorgi Jordania worked as an Artistic Director and of the Tbilisi State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
Mr. Jordania always combined his artistic commitments to educational commitments as starting from 2006 up to 2016 he’s been teaching in Tbilisi Central Music College leading orchestral studies and conducting class as well as serving as artistic advisor up to day.
His close ties to the best orchestra in Georgia, Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, where he serves as conductor in residence, started in 1997 continues up to day.
